ABOUT THE CONTRIBUTOR
Virginia Mitford is an emerging artist who divides her time between Newfoundland and the Yukon. Working with printmaking, dance, animation and drawing, she navigates emotionally-laden ideas with a focus on movement and her body in relation to artistic processes and personal history.
Graduating from Memorial University with a BFA in 2013, Virginia has since taken part in multiple artist residencies in Montreal, across Newfoundland and the Yukon. Most recently she took part in the Klondike Institute of Art and Culture’s residency program in Dawson City, Yukon and was artist in residence on the Chilkoot Trail. Virginia has started to work on a new project funded by the Advanced Artist Award from the Yukon Government. At the moment she is living in a log cabin in the Yukon with her partner and two lovely dogs.
