ABOUT THE CONTRIBUTOR
Ainsley Hawthorn is an author, cultural historian, and multidisciplinary artist based in St John’s. She holds a PhD in Near Eastern Languages and Civilizations from Yale and has been invited to lecture on her research at universities in Germany, Austria, Italy, and the United States. She is currently finishing her first non-fiction book, The Other Five Senses, and is a point-of-view columnist for CBC. In her spare time, she teaches and performs Middle Eastern and international folk dance and creates textile art, some of which was exhibited at the Craft Council of Newfoundland & Labrador in March 2019.
