Our Spring issue is now on stands!

Our Spring ssue exploring the theme of Newfoundland and Labrador’s connections with Portugal is now on stands.

The issue features a bold and bright cover by Genevieve Simms, art from Lori Doody, and historic polaroids by Kent Barrett and Mannie Buchheit.

Our features include a story about Joseph Teixeisa, the only Portugese member of the Newfoundland Regiment, a walk though Lisbon with an NL ex-pat studying cultural heritage, and and oral history of RCA’s first collective.

There is also poetry by Melanie Power, a comic by Wallace Ryan, and book reviews and excerpts of new work by Joel Thomas Hynes and Ed Riche.

The issue is available at select retailers, including Rocket Bakery, Johnny Ruth, and Chapters.

POWER/GRID: Graphic Depictions of War

“I chose a grid-system rather than free-form because it was a history. To me there’s something very stable about the nine-panel grid and I wanted that feeling for it.” So said the St John’s cartoonist Wallace Ryan, explaining the page design he has chosen for The Narrow Way, a graphic memoir about his grandfather’s experiences as a soldier in World War 1.
